Job description

Invitation for Expressions of Interest (EOI): - The Centre for Agricultural Transformation (CAT) is seeking partnerships to establish agricultural research and demonstration plots on the CAT campus Background The Centre for Agricultural Transformation (CAT) is a science, business and technology incubation hub supporting economic growth and smallholder prosperity. Here, researchers, businesses, aspiring entrepreneurs and students can experiment, access data, exchange ideas, develop business plans and create the partnerships needed to transform Malawi’s agricultural sector. The CAT offers turn-key demonstration or trial plots on LUANAR’s NRC and Bunda campuses with value-adding irrigation, ground-sensing and data-pipeline support services that allow interested partners to showcase technologies or perform statistical trials. These demonstration plots will offer an effective means of knowledge and skills transmission to interested agri-businesses and producers, motivating them to apply the newly acquired improved skills and technologies.

Invitation for Expressions of Interest (EOI)
To support the CAT’s goal of increasing commercialization and distribution of inclusive, demand and data-driven technologies and innovations in non-tobacco value chains, we are seeking aligned organizations and institutions to populate our LUANAR NRC and LUANAR Bunda main campuses-based plots.

In this partnership, the CAT will offer access to demo plots and provide supportive agronomy services. Participating CAT partners will be expected to:

  • Identify viable new or improved agricultural technologies that can be showcased to the Malawian farming community using trial or demonstration plots.
  • Set up and manage their respective trial or demonstration plots in collaboration with CAT agronomy staff from start to end of each agricultural season.
  • Participate in promoting products and techniques through educational presentations, demonstration tours and field days.
  • Support the development of technical training materials and conducting training for relevant stakeholders (e.g., private-sector teams, extension officers and farmers) on product knowledge, best agricultural practices, etc.
