Christian Aid is seeking to recruit Key Personnel for a GBP8M climate resilience programme which is expected to run from February 2023 until March 2026. The programme will take a participatory approach to developing and delivering climate justice interventions that tackle inequalities exacerbated by climate change and build communities resilience to the material and social effects of climate change. As the Lead Service Provider, Christian Aid will have responsibility for coordinating the scoping, design, development and delivery the programme. The Lead Service Provider will also lead monitoring, evaluation/learning and will have ultimate responsibility for on-the-ground delivery through local delivery partners. The local delivery partners will facilitate community participation and will implement the programme interventions.

We are looking to hire for the following position based in Lilongwe

Gender and Social Inclusion Program Officer – Climate Justice communities programme (CJC)

This role provides support and steer Gender and Protection work under the Climate Just Communities Programme. The role will support the programme in its Leave No One Behind Agenda, providing direction and technical input to embed Christian Aid’s inclusive programming approach to the implementation of the CJC. The role holder will work closely with project staff at CA and the delivery partner organisations to increase capacity on gender and inclusion, and safeguarding. It is expected that the role will build linkages and relationship with other important stakeholders including community groups, civil society organisations, government departments, donor agencies, etc. The role holder will represent Christian Aid in relevant meetings/activities and engage with relevant networks, while increasing the profile of Christian Aid’s work on gender and inclusion and its visibility in the country.

Candidates for this job should have at least a Bachelors Degree in Gender, Socio Sciences, Health – or equivalent – in relevant discipline. Proven track record in developing and maintaining relationships with a variety of stakeholders, knowledge of relevant international norms and standards relating to Gender and socio Inclusion, experience in working on gender transformative programmes. Experience of working on projects funded by donors such as the FCDO, SAID, Scottish Government, UN, EU on major programmes and solid understanding of Safeguarding practices.
