Good Neighbors International-Malawi (GNI) is an international humanitarian and development organization in General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC) with its headquarters in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Good Neighbors Malawi currently implements various community development projects within the following sectors, Health, Education, Water and Sanitation, Agriculture and Social Welfare ‘advocacy for children’s rights’, and other livelihood projects.
Good Neighbors Malawi is implementing a small holder farmer support project that aims at increasing community resilience and adaptation to climate change and enterprise commercialization. Good Neighbors is seeking a passionate, dynamic, pro-active and
experienced Project Coordinator with a background in the implementation of the Farmer
field schools strategy, mobilization of farmer organisations, enterprise marketing and other
Community livelihood interventions. This individual will coordinate the projects in Mchinji and
Lilongwe districts.
Job title : Livelihood and Income Generation coordinator
Reporting to : Programs Manager, Country Director
Location : Based in Head office (Lilongwe)
Major Duties
-
- Coordinate and oversee the overall Project activities, general planning and organizing program under supervision of the Programs manager
- Build farmers’ capacity for success in the project area by recruiting, completing annual performance evaluation, and training
- Organizing regular internal and external meetings with stakeholders to plan and review activities in the field
- Prepare and submit work programs and progress to Programs Manager and Country
Director
- Coordinate regular project reviews in conjunction with programs Manager, Country
Director and with local stake holders
- Ensuring adherence to the relevant donor contacts and compliance requirements under close supervision of Program Manager and Country Director.
- Responsible for coordination of program and strategy development
- Draw up plans, proposals and budgets for new projects/extension of projects in conjunction with the relevant team/staffs.
- Maintain good inter-team communication, engender good team dynamics
Experience
-
- Experience in developing and/or coordinating Livelihood projects, preferably to support farmer organisations/ cooperatives grain marketing opportunities
- Ability to work to strict deadlines under direction, whilst retaining the ability to exercise initiative where appropriate
- Proactive and service/improvement-oriented approach
- Proven ability to work effectively in teams
- Minimum 3 years of experience in related field
- Excellent report and proposal writing skills;
- Good command of English language skills/Local Language preferably Chichewa
- Computer literate; MS Word, Excel and data base management
- At least two years of professional experience working with international Organizations with demonstrated expertise in the substantive area of work and programme experience.
- Strong and proven analytical skills and proven ability to produce demonstrable results.

- Excellent organizational skills, with ability to prioritize a mixed workload
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain effective working
relationships

Qualification/ Experience
Degree in Agriculture, Agriculture Extension, Agronomy and any relevant field with not less
than 3 years’ experience working with donor funded organization in a busy office dealing with multiple donor projects.
